i have dark brown hair, and i've had bright red highlights. they showed up, it was a little more subtle then some of the other colors i've had, but it looked good. if you wear red, it'll make the red in your hair pop even more. and as someone else mentioned don't forget to bleach the highlighted areas first.

I was thinking about getting light green or red highlights. My natural hair color is close to black (( dark, dark brown )) and I've colored my hair at home so many times that I have splahes of different colors everywhere. I am getting it done professionally.

I was also thinking about getting a multi-layered cut. I straighten my hair because it is naturally curly.

so get that done.

if you have a lot of different colors in your hair, then you might want to strip the color out of your hair, [at a professional place]

or just dye over it.

i think you should do the highlights on the bottom half, and i think red would look better on black/dark brown hair instead of green. hope this helped!

Ok I just cut my hair yesterday (#2 fade) and want to bleach my tips(highlights). I have bleached my hair numorus times but never the tips only. I also usualy bleach it all from the roots up then get it cut but and let it grow ro the highlights... not this time. I was going to try to do only highlights if its not to difficult. My hair is about 2in. long dark brown and I am using Loreal Super Oreal Blanc with Salon Care 20vol. Creme. I have never usd these to before and hope to get it as white platinum as possible. Also I dont have the little hair net thing to do the tips only. I have to do it today so its either all going unless someone can tell me how to do the tips. Thanks in advance.

The best way to do this is to make your hair stand on end by using a strong hairspray (not gell as this can act as a barrier)

Then using gloves apply the bleaching agent to the ends of your hair with either your finger tips or a comb. Easy.

TO get it as light as possible place a bag ovedr your hair to keep the heat in. You may look silly for a bit but it helps to boost the lighteners in the products.

volume 20 creme is weak so you'll have to leave the bleach on your tips for longer than normal. so its 1 part bleach and 2 parts creme. (equal parts) i suggest using foil to wrap around your tips when you bleach it so it wont be everywhere. and blowdry the foil for intesity. if you want to do a semi-perm color on it i suggest you rinse and not shampoo the semi-perm color.

Mix up your bleach solution in a bowl (glass is best--no reaction to the chemicals) according to the package directions and then use a brush (they make them specially for this, but you can use a paint brush if that's all you've got) and CAREFULLY brush the solution onto the tips of your hair. I paid a lot of money to have my hair fully highlighted. The results were wonderful! However, I decided a month later that it was too much for me so I bought a semi-permanent hair color and dyed it back to my natural brunette color. Lately I have been regretting it and trying to wash the semi-permanent color out so I can get my highlights back BUT THE COLOR DOESN'T SEEM TO BE FADING!!! argh!

and I've washed it considerably often in nearly hot water and I am seeing some gold but not substantial enough.

Is there a product out there or method/technique that will strip the semi-permanent hair color from my hair???

and it has been approximately 3 weeks since i added the semi-permanent. Also, when I dyed it. I left the semi-permanent color in for 25 minutes over the recommended time!!

Because I left the color in longer than the recommendation

That's my hair currently (sorry, i look like i'm pouting) I straighten it with a pair of 鎷?0 irons which aren't great. I'm thinking of investing in some GHD's but i'm not sure which ones, the mini ones or the regular size ones?

Also, i'm thinking of getting some highlights or maybe a new colour all together. Blacks a bit emo looking and i think i'm too pale for it to be bleached so maybe a few blonde highlights, where do you all think would look best?

Any other tips ect i'd love to hear!

You'd look amazing if it was a touch longer, you bleached it, and a few black/brown streaks? Or an unnatural colour for the streaks.- if it's longer, fluff it a little. awesomee.

andd, go for mini for short hair. longer=more damage, and it's harder to control. always go with mini.

you should get the mini sized because they allow you to have more control and you can get closer tot he scalp, and i think you should put some choppy chunky highlights i your hair, i agree that going too light would eb disasterous and black is too dark, try a honey or toasted color, that way you have the highlights but you arent going blonde...

i have naturally dark hair which i had highlighted twice this yr, i then decided to go back to brown and dyed over last wk now dont like it %26amp; want to use a pre-lightener on my hair then dye a dark blonde. Yes it will. When i had a part of my hair died black over my highlights, I tried to dye it light again and it turned orange. Please do it at the salon...

try a high lifting blond on your hair, it is what i use and my hair is a dark chestnut brown, of course it is currently purple and magenta right now but hey... lol the high lift borders on bleaching but its not as harsh as the bleach, i've fried my hair so many times with bleach and pre-lightning stuff, the high lift blond is a godsend.
