Best highlights for black hair?

i have black hair and like fair-tan skin ...n well what colors turn up on black hair as highlights? ( i was thinking about light brown-auburn) but dunno any suggestions?

My friend has like pure black hair and she got reddish/brown highlights and they look really HOT! I would suggest either purple but only rockers/skaters can pull that off. Or pink if you're really wild. Me and my friend went to this carnival and their was a hair-do booth and she got pink in streaks on her really dark brown hair, almost black and that looked really pretty too. Good Luck : )
