Purple highlights on black hair?

I want to add purple highlights to my naturally black hair,

I have never dye or highlighted my hair before, I just want to ask, should i lighted my hair or bleach it?

what's the difference?

and how harmful are they to my hair?

can you tell me a process that i would need to go through?

Purple highlights on black hair?

You won't see much, or any, of a change on black hair unless you bleach first. If you want the results to be intense, it's recommended that you bleach your hair to a light blonde, which means you'll need to bleach a few times. If you do decide to do it, keep an eye on the bleach. Watch it closely. Put the bleach on your roots last because the hair from your head process faster. I'd recommend wrapping the hair in foil after the bleach, or dye, is on so that it doesnt get on the rest of your hair that you dont want dyed. its of course always good if you can get a friend to help you, too.

Your hair will not fall out. and it will not turn green.

it sounds to me as if you havent dyed your before, and your hair would only "fall out" or break off if you over dyed it, which is tough to do - i've done a lot to my hair in the past and its actually in really good shape. its more likely that the parts you bleached will turn an orange color after bleaching, but then what you do is get toner in the opposite color from what your hair is now (from a beauty supply shop) and then put the dye over it.. or, actually, you could probably dye right over it without much trouble, but ive always toned.

yes bleach is a dangerous chemical but read up online about how to do it and you should be just fine.

eww

Purple highlights on black hair?

it will go grose colour within a few weeks no jokes!!!

Purple highlights on black hair?

Do not do this!

Why ruin beautiful natural black hair?!

The second you bleach and dye it, your hair will become dry and brittle.

Don't risk it.

Purple highlights on black hair?

i think purple streaks wld look hot!!! sorry i dnt no the answers to those questions

Purple highlights on black hair?

sounds hot to me.

Bleach the streaks. the dye it purple.

and e-mail me pics after you do it.

Purple highlights on black hair?

u hv to bleach it. bleachin isnt actly good but its pays to do it purple highlights on blak hair sounds very sexy. think i mite do dat too

Purple highlights on black hair?

Wow, sounds great, but one word of advice...go to a hairdressers!

I have naturally dark hair and purple will not show on it, let alone on black hair. If you try and bleach ot yourself it will go orange and the purple dye will not work very well. Get the highlights done in a hairdressers and tell them that you want it as light as possible because you want to put purple dye in. I know it costs a lot more but trust me, it will be much better and last longer. Good luck

use a non perminant hair colour for your hair highlights, and if you dont like them, you just wash them out. should look good.

If you want to dye your hair, do it. It is your hair and if coloring makes you feel more attractive, that's great. The difference between coloring it and using bleach are chemicals. Using bleach is too harmful for your virgin hair. It will be damaged without a doubt. I recommend that you color your hair using a cream texture (preferably from Loreal). They tend to be less harmful and will keep your hair more healthy and vibrant.

Purple highlights on black hair?

Purple will not show up on BLACK it is too close to the natural color. If you dye it well I have no clue what color it will turn..

Do Not Bleach it!! Why?

Your hair will fall out ------ bbbaaaddd!!!!!

You will lose all your pigmentation in your hair and it will turn out GREEN

Purple highlights on black hair?

omg that would look so hot but maybe you should just try the wash out one first and then if it is good do it properly

The answer above mine is pretty much spot on. You will have to bleach it. Purple highlights on black hair would look awesome. Black is perfect for bright highlights. What you need to do is use foils. Select the areas of your hair that you would like to be purple and bleach them as light as you can (use 40 vol bleach). Wash that out and buy a bright hair dye like fudge. Paint it on over the light bits. Wait, and rinse. This is a bit of an effort in that it is tedious, but it is not really that difficult to do. Go for it!

Purple highlights on black hair?

I am doing that to my hair.

bleach and lightener are the same thing.

every dye and bleach/lightener are harmful for your hair;

especially bleach! it's only in the matter of taking care

of your hair. you will need to use shampoo and conditioner

for colored treated hair.

as for the process you need to go thru; if you're using a boxed kit..

you should have another person help you. you DO NOT

want bleach on parts of hair you don't want bleached.

also, bleach or dye on skin.. burns.

bleach a section of hair you want to dye purple..

i wouldn't immediately dye your hair purple right after the bleach.

I would wait a day.. but that may be just me.

ha, i asked my hairdresser a question like this a few weeks ago, expect i wanted to dye the last two layers purple.

i have naturally black hair too, so you should bleach it first or the purple wont show, but not alll of it only the parts you want highlited.

after bleaching it then dye the peices purple.

it depends on what hair you have, if its curly/wavy then your hair's going to be pretty dry, so use a really really good hydrating shampoo and conditoiner. if you have straight hair, i dont think it'll affect it as much, but still use a good conditioner and shampoo. ask your hairdresser what one she reccomends.

you should probably go to a hairdresser for the dying and everything, or it wont come out right.
