My blonde highlights gave my hair this orange-y brassy tone..can they fix this with toner??

I went and got my hair professionally highlighted....used to be blonde and had this done alot with no problems then decided to go brunette for awhile..that faded and I decided I wanted to go back to blonde. They did a heavy foil but the highlights have this orange, brassy tone and my hair color just looks off, not even blonde. im going to call to get it fixed but I dont want to destroy my hair in the process. can they fix this with a toner?? just want to get rid of this brassy look.

yes unless it wasn't left on long enough or it's not the right color blond for you (which in both cases I wouldn't think a qualified hairdresser that knows what they are doing could make that kind of mistake), you can get a toner called "magic silver white". It's dark purple but don't freak out on the color, it washes out normal and takes the brassiness out of it. I'm actually quite surprised your stylist didn't already do that for you, I would get them to fix it (you already paid your money) then ditch them for a better hairdresser:)

L'Oreal shimmer lights shampoo.try it first before u use a toner. Its basically a shampoo toner. Its a deep purple color and removes brassyness. Use at least 4 times a week (i use it every day to keep my blonde bright )

u can get it at sallys beauty supply

Toners only work when you get that down to a yellowish shade. Orange won't get any coverage from a toner. You need to rebleach. It wasn't left on long enough.

Here is the deal with that. You probably have red in your hair naturally as most brunettes do. You went blond, and it went orange. You are picking up the red in your hair. What you need is an ash tone to soften the brass, removing it. You don't need to go to a colorist to do this, you can do this at home. Depending on how blonde you want your hair, use either a light ash blonde, or light ash brown. Nothing golden, as it will just make it brassier. Rinse as usual, wash it and you will be great.

Ive been in the beauty world a long time so i know most of the tricks in the trade . Before you go out spending alot of money try this ; find your nearest beauty store, NOT a Longs or Walgreen ,and any store that has food . What you need is a purple shampoo , KMS has one that's good ,and also RUSK. Hope this helps you out. GOOD LUCK :)
