If I recolor recently highlighted hair, will the highlights be too light and still show as streaks?

I recently highlighted my black hair with blonde streaks and do not like the look. I want to change my hair color to light auburn, but want to make sure that the coloring is even. Will I continue to have streaks in my hair after the re-coloring

Yes,

Yes you will but they will be subtler and be shades of the new colour. You never know, it might actually look more natural and pretty! I use a caramel shade for my base colour, and stripe it with copper and gold...when I re-colour I usually restripe, but even before I do, the stripes are subtley there, and I think it looks cool. I guess you'll just have to see and then you can decide how to deal with it.

It is better to go to a qualified hairdresser for advice like this. You may ruin your hair if you color too soon. Make sure that you go to someone whose specialty is in hair coloring, because if coloring isn't done properly it can severely damage your hair. Good luck!

It depends on if you are going to get it professionally done or doing it yourself. If you do it yourself you will not get a light auburn b/c your base color is black. If you want light auburn, it would pay to get it professional done. I got my dark hair colored like a chocolate brown and it is my favorite color now

as a salon owner and cosmetologist I would suggest going to a salon and have them color your hair. You have to lift or lighten the black color in your hair (if it was colored black)to a couple of shades lighter than the color you actually want and then recolor it to the color you want and blond streaks should be the same color or so close that it looks like the sun highlighted your hair. I do this all the time for my clients but it is a pain in the but cause it takes so long! lightening the hair from black is really hard on the hair so it should be done with a baby bleach. Your salon should know what you are talking about! DO NOT do it yourself unless you want a mess!
