Which is healtheir for your hair, highlights or lowlights?

I'm only fourteen and I have light red hair. When my older sister was fourteen she was allowed to get highlights. Well, my hair used to be much redder than it is now and now I want lowlights to make my hair redder again. My parents think they are fair but as I am the younged I noticed they aren't. My mom didn't like the idea of me getting lowlights and I know it's because she just wants to have some sort of power over me. She says I can get highlights if I want to but she only says that because she knows I won't get highlights because I absolutely hate when people think I'm blonde, or even strawberry blonde. She claims that lowlights are worse for your hair than highlights and that is why she won't let me get them. I am pretty sure it is the opposite (or that they are equally harmful) but will somebody please tell me so I can clarify that. I need to know if my mom's right or if I am so that if I am right, I can present an arguement to her that she cannot deny.

Highlights are worse for your hair than lowlights. Highlights remove color from your hair, which is bad for the hair. Lowlights just adds color, which doesn't hurt the hair as much.

im guessing lowlights. cuz highlights i KNOW are really damaging. just keep your natural red!!! it's probably prettier. then when people ask you can say yeahh...its natural :)

It sounds like you just want a trap so you can tell your mom that she is wrong. I think you need to do what she tells you you can and can't do. I wasn't long ago that we were not allowed to get anything done to our hair like that. However both processes are about the same equal in damage to your locks. I'd follow either one with a good treatment.

1.Highlights consists of using bleach in which to lighten the strands of hair that are going to be highlighted 2. Lowlights consists of using tint to achieve darker strands (lowlights) So the bleaching of the hair in most cases would be worse on the hair. 3. Make sure to go to the salon for your lowlights.

Highlighting your hair means bleaching it %26amp; this in turn does damge the hair by drying it out %26amp; weakening it which in turn will lead to breakage... Insetad of lowlights why not colour your whole hair a brighter red? There are products that help hair colour last longer or why not even try a coloured shampoo or rinse which wash out of your hair after a few washes? They have moisturiser in them %26amp; you can see what the coulour will look like before going permanent...
